One look at Pikachu, and you immediately know he’s a Pokemon. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played Pokemon, never seen Pokemon, or if you don’t even know what Pokemon is. His fame has made him an iconic symbol for many generations now.

Although Pikachu is not my son’s favorite Pokemon, he still wanted a Pikachu for his hat collection. Simply for the reason that Pikachu represents all things Pokemon, and my son loves all things Pokemon. You can’t help but love this little guy.

My personal favorite thing about this hat is that I can always spot my son in a crowd. Whenever I pick him up from school, my son’s electric yellow Pikachu is beaming like a homing beacon.

This pattern is for the following sizes:
⦁ Adult (14 +) circumference = 22 – 23”
⦁ Youth Lg (6-10) circumference = 20 – 21”
⦁ Youth Sm (3-5) circumference = 19 – 20”

SUPPLIES

⦁ RedHeart Super Saver worsted weight yarn in the following colors:
⦁ Y = Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, Yellow
⦁ B = Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, Black
⦁ R = Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, Red
⦁ W = Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, White
⦁ Hook Size: G - 4.25mm
⦁ Yarn Needle

Mc - magic circle
Sc – single crochet

Sl st – slip stitch

1) With Yellow, SC 6 in magic circle. Use a yarn marker to mark the beginning of each round. (6)

2) Work 2 SC in each stitch around. (12)

3) Work 2 SC in each stitch around. (24)

4) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (24)

5) *Work 1 SC in next stitch, and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 12 times (36)

6) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (36)

7) *Work 1 SC in each of the next 2 stitches, and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 12 times (48)

8) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (48)

9) *Work 1 SC in each of the next 3 stitches and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 12 times. (60)

10) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (60)

11) *Work 1 SC in each of the next 4 stitches and 2 SC in the same stitch. * Repeat 12 times. (72) [For Youth Sm: skip to step 14.]

12) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (72)

13) Adult Size: *Work 1 SC in each of the next 5 stitches and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 12 times. (84)

Youth Lg Size: *Work 1 SC in each of the next 11 stitches and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 6 times. [78]

Slip Stitch in first stitch in round.
Finish off and weave in ends.

2) (B) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (6)

4) (B) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (9)

5) (B) *Work 2 SC, and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 3 times. (12)

6) (B) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (12)

7) With Yellow, *Work 3 SC and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 3 times. (15)

8 - 17) (Y) Work 1 SC in each stitch around (15)

1) With White, SC 6 in magic circle. (6)

Slip stitch in first stitch in round.
Finish off and leave tail to sew to black outer circle.
