About Me

Hello. I’m Melanie and I have been crocheting for over 20 years. I have an IT husband and I’m a mom of two (one of each and 10 years apart.) I love Disney, science fiction, board games, and photography. Crochet has been something passed down for generations in my family. The first crochet gift I received was a pair of slippers from my great grandmother who I was blessed to have known until my 20s. My mother took the time to teach me the stitches and the messy, crooked blankets began. I didn't really get passionate about crochet until I was expecting my first born. I soon learned to read patterns and my skills began to expand. My very first original creation was a little green purse and it was ugly. I started to write down my creations for myself so I could make them again. Then my crochet world grew. When my son was 4 he asked me to make him an Angry Bird hat. Throughout that winter, people began stopping us and asking me if I’d make them one and that they’d be willing to pay me. I made over 60 different colored “Angry Hats” that year. The following fall I expanded my collection and open an Etsy shop. A few years later, I started selling my patterns online all over the world. I’m now sharing those patterns for free on this blog in hopes of inspiring a new generation of crochet enthusiasts. So come along and crochet with me.
