If that little red droid didn’t have a bad motivator then this story would be a whole lot different. Thanks to fate, or the force, we got R2D2 at the heart of Star Wars. He’s a feisty little fellow and definitely my favorite droid.

My Star Wars love started very early, thanks to my dad. I even had a little remote R2D2 growing up. Of course the controller was connected by a wire (it was the 80s), but he was the coolest toy.

As an adult, I had a little figurine of R2D2 on my desk. My little sidekick that stuck by my side and reminded me to have a little fun. Star Wars makes me think of family, my family, and this little guy was always there to remind me of what’s important in life, my family.

Most of my patterns are hats my kids request, but this one was all mine. I love this little guy and I had to have him in my collection. After all I need a hat too, right?

I love how the blue and grey looks together. It reminds me of R2D2, a simple design but he’s got it where it counts.

I’m glad I can share my love for R2D2 with you and this pattern. I hope you enjoy him as much as I do.

⦁ Youth Lg (6-10) circumference = 20 – 21”

30) Slip stitch into next stitch in round and turn. Skip slip stitch and *work 1 SC in next stitch and 2 SC in the same stitch *repeat 10 times and slip stitch in next stitch on hat. Turn.

31) Skip slip stitch and work 30 SC along bill and slip stitch in the next open stitch on hat. Turn.

32) Skip slip stitch and work 30 SC along bill and slip stitch in the next open stitch on hat. Turn.

33) Skip slip stitch and work 30 SC along bill, SC in next open stitch on hat. Work 1 SC in the remaining 59 [53] [47] stitches around hat. Then work 1 SC in the next 30 stitches across the bill.

Slip Stitch in first stitch in bill.
Finish off and weave in ends.

EYE

In Black:

1) SC 6 in magic circle. Use a yarn marker to mark the beginning of each round. (6)

2) Work 2 SC in each stitch around. (12)

3) Work 2 SC in each stitch around. (24)

Slip stitch and first stitch in round.
Finish off and leave tail to sew to hat.

Sew in center of Blue Square on front of hat.
