My daughter, who is ten years older than her brother, starting watching Adventure Time with my son. As soon as Lumpy Space Princess came on, she was hooked. She can’t quite explain it, but Lumpy Space Princess just cracks her up.

It started with a t-shirt. We happened to see one as we were shopping, and she just had to have it. By the time winter rolled around, she wanted the hat.

She helped me a lot in trying to get Lump’s meh attitude across in a hat. We basically decided she must have arms. When making a hat like Lumpy Space Princess, it’s amazing that something like arms just seems right on this hat, and it has become our favorite part of the hat.

Lumpy Space Princess Hat - Free Crochet Pattern

This pattern is for the following sizes:

⦁ Adult (14 +) circumference = 22 – 23”
⦁ Youth Lg (6-10) circumference = 20 – 21”
⦁ Youth Sm (3-5) circumference = 19 – 20”

SUPPLIES

⦁ Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, Purple
⦁ Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, Black
⦁ Hook Size: G/4.25mm
⦁ Yarn Needle

Mc - magic circle
Hdc – half double crochet
Sc – single crochet
Sc2tog – single crochet 2 stitches together
Sl st – slip stitch
St(s) – stitch(es)

Note: The piece is worked in rounds. Do not join or turn. The pattern is made by changing colors in specified stitches.

1) With purple. SC 6 in magic circle. Use a yarn marker to mark the beginning of each round. (6)

2) Work 2 SC in each stitch around. (12)

3) Work 2 SC in each stitch around. (24)

4 – 5) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (24)

6) *Work 1 SC in next stitch, and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 12 times (36)

7 – 8) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (36)

9) *Work 1 SC in each of the next 2 stitches, and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 12 times (48)

10) – 11) Work 1 SC in each stitch around. (48)

12) *Work 1 SC in each of the next 3 stitches and 2 SC in the same stitch. *Repeat 12 times. (60)

1) With yellow. SC 6 in magic circle

2) Slip stitch in first stitch in round. *Chain 4. Slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook. SC in next chain. Hdc in next chain. Skip 1 stitch in first round and slip stitch in next stitch. *Repeat 5 times.

Finish off and leave tail to sew to hat.

EYEs 

(make 2)

1) With black. SC 6 in magic circle.

Slip Stitch in first stitch in round.
Finish off and leave tail to sew to hat.

(make 2)

1) With purple. SC 6 in magic circle.

2 – 17) Work 1 SC in each stitch around.

Slip Stitch in first stitch in round.
Finish off and leave tail to sew to hat.

MOUTH

With black embroider a mouth by slip stitching a smile:

Pull loop from inside hat to front of work. Slip stitch in spaces between stitches to embroider mouth. Finish by pulling tail to inside of hat. Finish off and weave in ends.
